Kanti ungifunani? By SJ Ngobeni (810111)

Yazi I keep on distancing myself from you,
Yet you keep on meddling in my business,
You tell the world you want nothing to do with me,
Yet my name passes your lips daily,
Why are you perusing my social media accounts?
Kanti ngakwenzani? Your life, seemingly, revolves around it!
Kanti ngakuthathela ini yakho? Ngoba you are the one who took my father!
As though you have a point to prove,
You keep on telling the world I am not your son,
I wonder if that makes me any less of my father’s son,
Sadly, I am a fact and reality you cannot deny,
And that makes my being a bitter pill to swallow,
Being his replica doesn’t help your case either,
Though you’ve attempted many times to discredit my DNA!
I do not know what demons you encounter,
But it is evident that you are losing that battle,
And as a result - you’ve become bitter,
You kill every sign of life and love around you,
You somehow believe that God loves only you,
You see others as mere peasants,
You think the world owes you respect yet you spew the opposite!
Fact is…
You are indeed not my mother – just an evil stepmother!
I respect you because you were a part of my father’s life,
I respect you because you mothered my half-siblings,
I respect you because you are an elder,
I respect you because my “only” mother instilled such virtues in my upbringing,
So do not get it twisted – in all this, do not think my world revolves around you!
